Signed in the plate in the lowest segment of the window at right Rembrandt f 1655 (the “6” reversed).

An 18th century impression of Bartsch’s fifth state of five; Usticke’s fourth state of five, New Hollstein’s fourth state of six, printed after the copper plate was cut down to show just the head and bust, but prior to the plate being completely reworked with cross-hatching to the wall behind the sitter and the additional shading to his face and collar.
