Signed on the stone lower right Steinlen, also bearing the artist’s printed monogram in the same area. 

A superb impression of Bargiel & Zagrodzki’s first version of this rare poster.  Printed by Impremiere Courmont Frères, Paris, with their credit line on the stone lower center and lower right.

Some of the most heart-warming poster images ever created are those in which Steinlen gives us an intimate peek into his family life.  You can virtually feel his adoring love for his wife Emilie and his daughter Colette, and he never fails to let us know that cats were regarded as full-fledged family members in his home.  An accomplished and prolific caricaturist and illustrator, Steinlen had a concern for common people that give his posters a deep humanity.
