Original etching with drypoint printed in brown/black ink on fine laid paper bearing a “WW” block letter watermark.
Hand-signed in pencil with the artist’s butterfly monogram on a tab below the platemark lower left, also annotated “imp.” on the tab indicating that the impression was printed by Whistler himself, also signed in the plate with the butterfly monogram lower right.
From the edition of 100 published by the Fine Art Society, London, 1880, in the series Venice, Whistler.
