Original etching, aquatint and relief print in 18 colors printed from one irregularly shaped
magnesium plate, one assembled plate made from three irregularly shaped plates (two
magnesium, one copper), and one assembled plate made from twelve irregularly shaped
magnesium plates, on hand-made white wove TGL paper (made by Tom Strianese, Paul
Imboden & John Fulton).
Hand-signed and dated in pencil lower left F. Stella ’89.
A superb impression of the definitive state, from the edition of 50 (there were 31 additional
proofs of various types, for an overall edition of 81), numbered in pencil also
lower left. One of eight plates from the series Italian Folktales. Published by Tyler
Graphics Ltd., Mount Kisco, New York, bearing its blindstamp in the paper in the lower
right corner of the sheet, annotated with the Tyler Graphics workshop number “FS86-
899” in pencil verso; printed at the Tyler Graphics workshop by Anthony Kirk, Brian
Maxwell, Mark Mahaffey, Bob Cross, Tom DeBolt, Pete Duchess and Doug Humes,
under the supervision of Kenneth Tyler.
