Damien Hirst is one of the most famous living British artists. The most influential member of a school of artists originating from Goldsmiths, University of London in the 1980s, Hirst has become a household name. His work focuses on the fundamental elements of life, including death and love, which he expresses in controversial sculptures, installations and paintings. In The Wonder of You, Hirst employs one of his newer signature motifs: butterflies. The butterflies are rendered so that they seem to flutter across the piece. The butterfly has wide significance as a symbol of love, regeneration, fortune, freedom, spirituality, and death. The series titles include Your Smell, Your Taste, Your Heart, Your Feel, Your Touch, and Your Beauty.
