A superb impression of the definitive state, from the poster edition of 3,000 (there were 100 additional signed and numbered impressions with the poster text printed on Arches wove paper, and 200 signed and numbered impressions without the text printed on Arches wove). Transcribed by Charles Sorlier from Chagall’s maquette for “The Sources of Music,” (Chagall’s painting installed at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York) with the annotation “D’APRES MARC CHAGALL – CH. SORLIER GRAV.” added to the stone lower left. Published by Editions of the Metropolitan Opera, New York, to advertise the opening performance there of Mozart’s opera of the same title (with sets and costumes by Chagall) on February 19, 1967; printed at Atelier Mourlot, Paris, bearing its credit line on the stone lower right.
